KEN-H-KRCS Project: Empowering Communities for Universal HIV Prevention, Treatment, and Care.

The KEN-H-KRCS project is implemented by the Partnership for a HIV Free Generation (HFG) in collaboration with the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) and funded by the Global Fund. Our goal is to contribute to achieving Vision 2030 by ensuring universal access to comprehensive HIV prevention, treatment, and care in Kericho and Nakuru Counties.

Project Focus and Objectives

The KEN-H-KRCS project is centred around addressing key aspects of HIV prevention, treatment, and care in the target counties. Our scope of activities includes:

Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT):

We conduct comprehensive PMTCT outreaches, facilitate support groups (PSSGs), and monitor the health of HIV-exposed infants (HEI) to ensure effective prevention measures are in place.

Treatment, Care, and Support:

Our team tracks defaulters to ensure continuity of treatment for people living with HIV. We work closely with healthcare providers and communities to ensure access to quality care and support services.

Differentiated HIV Testing Services:

Through index testing, we offer tailored HIV testing services to identify new cases and provide appropriate interventions. This approach ensures that individuals receive personalized care and support based on their specific needs.

Discordant Couples Interventions:

We provide specialized support to couples where one partner is living with HIV and the other is not. Our interventions focus on strengthening relationships, addressing communication barriers, and promoting healthy behaviours within the context of discordant partnerships.

Men in High Risk:

Recognizing the unique challenges faced by men in relation to HIV transmission, we implement targeted interventions to reach and engage men in high-risk groups. By addressing their specific needs and promoting behaviour change, we strive to reduce new infections among this population.

Reducing Human Rights and Gender Barriers to HIV/TB:

We work towards eliminating human rights violations and gender-based barriers that hinder access to HIV and TB services. Through advocacy, capacity building, and community engagement, we aim to create an enabling environment that supports equitable access to healthcare for all individuals.

Impact and Partnerships

The KEN-H-KRCS project has already made significant strides in advancing our objectives. We have seen improvements in PMTCT outcomes, increased treatment adherence, expanded access to HIV testing services, and strengthened support networks for discordant couples. By addressing human rights and gender barriers, we are promoting inclusivity and ensuring that everyone has equal access to life-saving interventions.

Our project is made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Partnership for a HIV Free Generation (HFG), the Kenya Red Cross Society, and generous funding from the Global Fund. Together, we are making a tangible impact on the lives of individuals affected by HIV in Kericho and Nakuru Counties.
