Job Title: PMTCT Volunteer

Program: Global Fund (GF) – Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) Project

Background

The Partnership for a HIV Free Generation (HFG) is a local NGO working closely with local communities, implementing partners, Government of Kenya and public-private partners at county, and national level. The main mission of the organization is to inspire and empower Kenyan youth to live healthy and productive lives through evidence informed interventions and partnerships.

HFG has been sub granted by Kenya Red Cross Society to implement HIV Prevention, Treatment and Care project funded by Global Fund in Kericho County. The aim of the project is to contribute to achieving Vision 2030 through Universal access to comprehensive HIV prevention, treatment and care. The project will be implemented in close collaboration with and in support of County Health Management Teams (CHMT), Ministry of Health, host-country public and private partners, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community-based organizations (CBOs), and public health facilities. HFG seeks to engage volunteers for Global Fund (GF) – Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) Project in Nakuru and Kericho Counties.

Opening Date: October 11, 2023.                               Closing Date: October 18, 2023.

Location: Nairobi County.

Reports to: Project Officer.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. To support the daily follow up of the expert mothers to ensure the following roles are carried out conclusively

– To work closely with CHVs in mapping all the expectant women in the community, refer, link, and follow them up during ANC, labor, and delivery, and postnatal.
– Identification of expectant women during ANC Visits, especially first visit as well as follow up schedules for the subsequent visits
– Widespread community sensitizations on availability of PMTCT
– Promoting the essence of skilled delivery through health education sessions
– Creating awareness on the importance of early ANC attendance
– Linkage with MCH for facility level provision of continuum of care as they continue with client follow ups
– Support in disclosure processes and act as role model for others
– Support HEI follow-up to ensure HIV negative outcomes
– Community Assessment, screening and referrals
– Scheduled Facility visits to follow up on complete referrals to ensure good linkage between community and facility
– Creating awareness, promotion of and referral for enrollment into Linda mama initiatives
– Retaining mother-baby pair in PMTCT program
– Address stigma and discrimination and educate the community on anti-discrimination messages
– Regularly updating of the mother’s locator information.
– To accompany HTS counselors during community testing to offer psychosocial support and also ensure complete linkage – for all mothers testing HIV positive
– Support mobilization of WLHIV to participate into community events

2. To ensure all expert mothers are managing the required cohort of 60 expectant and lactating mothers on a monthly basis
3. To ensure the expert mothers have all the tools in liaison with the M&E assistant
4. Support the project in collecting success stories and share with M&E Assistant for documentation
5. Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Requirements

– Must be literate with good reading and writing skills
– Must have worked as a mentor Mother for a period of one year and above
– Form four and above
– Linked to a facility in one of our sub counties of implementation.

Job Title: Project Officer

Program: Fahari Ya Jamii Project – Nairobi County

(The position is contingent to availability of funding)

Background

The main mission of the organization is to inspire and empower Kenyan youth to live healthy and productive lives through evidence informed interventions and partnerships.

HFG has been sub-granted by USAID Fahari Ya Jamii Project to implement GBV interventions within 11 health facilities and PrEP interventions in 26 health facilities within Nairobi County.  HFG seeks to recruit a Project Officer for the Fahari Ya Jamii Project.

Reports to: Program Manager.

Job Summary

The main role of Project Officer will be to take leadership in managing and ensuring the implementation of the GBV and PrEP interventions in Nairobi County.

Specific Roles and Responsibilities

– The Project Officer will play the role of the local HFG representative, linking the project to facility level stakeholders including, local administration, security services, MoH, gender and youth among others;
– Working with GBV focal persons at the health facilities and Facility in charges, identify GBV and PrEP champions from among Community Health Volunteers;
– Oversee collection of information and documentation on various referral services;
– Facilitate SASA Advocates and PrEP champions to conduct outreaches at the community, and facility level;
– Lead the training of SASA advocates, Clinicians, PrEP champions and other key stakeholders;
– Present the Fahari Ya Jamii Monthly Narrative and Data Reports besides hosting periodic review meetings with SASA/LIVES advocates, Facility GBV focal persons, Facility In charges, PrEP champions and local community stakeholders;
– Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports or as needed by the project;
– Document and disseminate lessons learnt, challenges, successes and best practices;
– Represent the project in local stakeholder meetings and working groups;
– Ensure County and Sub-County engagement within Nairobi County;
– Manage and supervise project staff.

Requirements

– A Degree in Social Sciences or any other related courses, community health, community development, Gender studies, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, or equivalent;
– At least 1-year HIV & AIDS and GBV work experience.

Knowledge

– Possesses fundamental competencies and knowledge in HIV response and GBV;
– Excellent management abilities within a multi-disciplinary team, support, training and mentoring.

Skills

– Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills, capable of directing and managing change, effective delegation, inspiring teamwork and motivating staff and partners to achieve results;
– Communication skills: Excellent written and oral presentation skills, able to write well and adapt report style to different target audience.

Competencies

– Leadership: Able to maintain a broad perspective of project needs and priorities, and the results-based objectives and strategies being pursued;
– Interpersonal and Negotiation skills: proven ability to work successfully within a team of professionals (including from external partner organizations) and with members of the public; wide exposure to people from different cultures and sections of society;
– Computer literacy
– Organizational skills: ability to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines, keep careful records;
– Ability to work within deadlines and attention to details.

Roles and Responsibilities

– Support in verification of financial information for accuracy and completeness;
– Support in preparation of the financial documentation for payment purposes;
– Support in posting financial data into the financial system and financial data base;
– Support in provision of general administrative and clerical support including mailing, scanning, and copying of financial documents;
– Assist in organizing finance documentations ensuring completeness and accountability;
– Assist in maintaining hard copy filing system for the financial transactions;
– Open, sort and distribute incoming documents to the relevant staff;
– Support the finance department in the procurement processes as guided from time to time;
– Assist in preparation and compilation of financial reports;
– Any other duty assigned by the supervisor.

Required minimum qualifications and experience

– Bachelor of Commerce (Finance or Accounting Option), degree in Business Administration, Procurement or any other relevant qualification;
– Professional qualifications in Accounting of at least CPA II will be an added advantage;
– Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures;
– Familiarity with finance regulations;
– Good math skills and the ability to spot numerical errors;
– Has good analytical skills and a keen eye to details;
– Hands-on experience with MS Excel and accounting software will be an added advantage
– Organization skills;
– Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
